Aircraft Changes: MCA / STC Development
Design approval EASA.21J.849
STCs and major changes, designed and approved by one team.
AIR TEAM Engineering designs, tests and certifies your change under EASA.21J.849, and our own Part-21G production builds the kit. One team, from classification to the data package your installer needs.
We certify airframe changes from nose to tail without OEM approvals, from light sport aircraft to large aeroplanes and rotorcraft.

What we can design
Four families of change, all attached to the airframe with approved data.
Avionics equipment
Navigation (DME, GPS, marker, radio altimeter), communication (VHF COM, audio panels, intercoms, satellite datalinks), surveillance (transponders, ADS-B, ELT), traffic awareness (FLARM, TAS, TCAS) and instruments (PFD, MFD, EIS).
Special-mission equipment
Terrain-imaging cameras, laser scanners, mapping radar, scientific equipment, operator workstations, medical and rescue equipment and signal-relay equipment.
Electrical systems
Exterior lighting (position, landing, taxi, logo), interior lighting (instrument, cabin, map, NVG) and power outlets for tablets, notebooks and chargers, including converters for special equipment.
Cabin, airframe and structure
LOPA, interior, livery and placard programmes, and the attachment to the airframe of any equipment above.
What the data package contains
- 1Aerodynamic, load and strength, reliability and safety, and electrical-load analyses
- 2Installation instructions and instructions for continuing airworthiness
- 3Flight manual supplement and documentation for the end user
- 4Test reports where the change needs them: strength, fatigue, EMC, electrical load, environmental
- 5Flight-test coordination and EASA / FAA validation support

Minor vs major changes
Minor changes are approved in-house under EASA.21J.849. Major changes follow the MCA or STC route with EASA. The approved data package then goes straight to your installer.
Changes and repair designs
AIR TEAM Engineering designs and substantiates changes and repairs. Embodiment at Kunovice under Part 145 and component repair by our CRO follow on from there.
